I wanted to check in and let you know that my prayer for you is that you are feeling well and healthy, and doing as much as possible to be okay during this time of disruption. I invite you to call me if you would simply like to talk.
There are many people throughout the world who are having an incredibly challenging time physically, mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually. I pray for them daily and feel great compassion and love for what I call my Earth family. COVID 19 is here for many reasons. It was apparent, prior to COVID, that many systems are broken on our planet. This dysfunction has impacted people’s lives on an economic, social, and political level, and just about any area you can name. Racism is still apparent as is economic disparity. The harm to our beautiful planet and the animals has been heart breaking to me. If you are a person who watches a lot of news and you are also a highly sensitive person you could be feeling a lot of fear from the collective consciousness. There is much that is unknown about what will happen and when it will happen. For someone who is not comfortable with that there will likely be great emotional angst, including anxiety and fear. We humans like to think we are in control, yet we are in control of so little, except for ourselves. This is a time for self-reflection. We can become disciplined with meditation. We can journal. What do I like about my life? What don’t I like? What do I want to change? What areas of my life are working well, and which areas need some changes? How can I contribute to life? What is my passion? Just as the caterpillar emerges as a beautiful butterfly, we can move towards who we want to become. Perhaps this will not occur immediately, but we can have a clearer direction and vision of what that is for us. I’ll give you an example from my experience. I have been living in Central Phoenix for quite a number of years. It has gotten increasingly congested with a tremendous amount of new construction. Older structures are being torn down and new and ofter very large structures are being built. It is a process referred to as gentrifying or gentrification. Phoenix is rapidly growing along with the traffic. I now recognize that my living situation needs to change. We do not have the heavy traffic we were experiencing before this pandemic. I cannot even imagine going back to that. So change is in the air. I do not know where it will take me, but it is needed. I also had an experience recently where I dropped into an aspect of my shadow. The shadow represents those parts of us that we may not even recognize, and that we certainly do not want to own as us! For me it was the feeling of jealousy, and it totally caught me off guard. The last time I remember that feeling was over 30 years ago. This is a time to have compassion for ourselves. It took me the next day to recognize that I needed to forgive myself, and acknowledge that that is not who I am or who I want to be. Once that occurred I felt free. I share these experiences to encourage you to use this time for self-reflection. We have done a great deal of collective damage to our planet, and since the onset of COVID we are able to see our beautiful Mother Earth begin to recover. For example, there has been a drastic reduction in air pollution throughout many countries, and some areas are seeing blue skies and mountaintops for the first time in many years. There are so many examples of how we have not taken care of our planet. Many have said that we were getting close to the time when our planet would be unable to sustain us much longer. In conclusion I will close with this quote from Buckminster Fuller, who dedicated his life to having our world work for all of humanity. It is apparent that it is not occurring at this time. You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete. ~~ Buckminster Fuller
